The winners of the Suzanne Bella Srodogora prize announced by the CNRS Foundation.

Sophie Hontebeyrie and Hélène Marec, winners of the second Suzanne Bella Srodogora Prize

Created by a group of three friends of Suzanne Bella Srodogora, in her memory, the prize is awarded each year to a woman ITA (Ingénieur Technicienne Administrative) chosen from among the winners of a CNRS crystal from the last three years.

For this second edition, the prize was awarded to Hélène Marec and Sophie Hontebeyrie.

Hélène Marec, Médaille de Cristal CNRS 2020, for her versatile technical background in chemistry, electronics and IT, enabling her to work closely with the laboratory’s researchers and meet their needs as effectively as possible. After a DUT in physical measurements in Saint-Nazaire and two years in industry, Hélène MAREC, loyal to her region, joined the GEPEA laboratory in Nantes and then Saint-Nazaire in 2003, in charge of scientific instrumentation within the Bioprocesses Applied to Microalgae team.

Sophie Hontebeyrie, Médaille de Cristal CNRS 2021, in charge of the shared services center supporting nine research units. In particular, she was instrumental in designing and setting up this shared services center, designed to improve interaction with scientists, experiment with new management tools and facilitate procedures for research managers.

Words from the winners

Sophie HONTEBEYRIE: “Gathering and synthesizing all the information needed to prepare for key moments in the life of the units means that the directors, who are less occupied with management tasks, can devote more time to their mission of providing scientific leadership to the units and strengthening scientific cohesion on cross-disciplinary themes.

Hélène MAREC: “My aim is to challenge myself in order to respond to complex requests and make possible the experiments imagined by the researchers. The immediate aim of my work is to satisfy the researchers and enable them to make further progress on their problems, to make my contribution to the laboratory’s theme, and to be innovative.”

The two laureates are being honoured for their outstanding work and commitment to supporting scientific research.

The CNRS Foundation warmly congratulates Sophie Hontebeyrie and Hélène Marec, wishing them every success in their future projects!
