Support from the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès for the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems, as part of the “Réseau des Zones Ateliers” project.

It is with great pleasure that the CNRS Foundation to announce the support of the Foundation d’entreprise Hermès for the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems, as part of the “Réseau des Zones Ateliers” project. Réseau des Zones Ateliers “.

Observe and understand the functioning and trajectories of socio-ecosystems

The 16 Workshop Zones are geographical areas, often on a regional scale, structured around a functional unit such as a river and its watershed, a mountain range, a coastal zone, or agricultural and urban landscapes.

The research carried out aims to understand the functioning and trajectories, past and future, of these socio-ecosystems through three approaches:

  • Formalizing and theorizing the functioning of socio-ecosystems
  • Describe, understand and predict the response of these zones to global change
  • Contributing to the transformation of territories towards greater sustainability

Developing a systems approach to socio-ecosystems

The Réseau des Zones Ateliers develops a systemic approach approach, combining long-termof interdisciplinary approach between life sciences, earth sciences, human and social sciences, and engineering sciences, with a process of co-construction of knowledge with local players and socio-economic partners.

The Réseau des Zones Ateliers combines fundamental, bio-geophysical, ecological and societal research approaches, built with and for society, to support territories in their transformation towards greater sustainability.

From adaptation to transformation

The Réseau des Zones Ateliers places adaptive co-management between scientists and local stakeholders at the heart of its methods.
