At the close of the Polar Summit, held from November 8 to 10, 2023 at the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the launch of the “Decade of Glacier and Polar Science Cryosphere” (2025-2035) on an international scale, with the support of the World Meteorological Organization and UNESCO.
On this occasion, the Chairman underlines: “the launch of the Albédo Foundation for the Cryosphere, under the aegis of the CNRS Foundation, dedicated to supporting French and French-speaking research, will play a key role. Thanks to its founder and patron Frederik Paulsen, it has initial funding of €10 million, which is set to double rapidly”.
