On February 20, 2024, at the Residence of France in London, the Foundation for the Maison Française d’Oxford (MFO) was launched under the aegis of the CNRS Foundation, in the presence of its founder Frédéric Thibault-Starzyk, the French Ambassador to the UK Hélène Duchêne, the President and CEO of CNRS Antoine Petit and the Chancellor of Oxford University Lord Chris Patten of Barnes.
For nearly 80 years the Maison Française d’Oxford (MFO)Unité Mixte des Instituts Français de Recherche à l’Etranger between the CNRS and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, has been promoting French research and culture in the UK. It enables French and French-speaking academics to spend time at Oxford University, and fosters collaborative links between French and British research. It aims to bring together members and former members of the MFO, supporters and sympathizers, and people wishing to support and participate in its activities. It organizes and participates in events and meetings, disseminates information and supports MFO activities. The MFO Foundation will receive donations and bequests for the benefit of the MFO.
We wish him every success in his many projects.
