For its third edition, the Georges Brahms Prize created in tribute to this former CNRS research director and generous patron, was awarded to Fernando Muzzopappa for his work.
Fernando Muzzopappa obtained his PhD in 2019 at theInstitute of Integrative Cell BiologyI2BC, Gif-Sur-Yvette, under the supervision of Diana Kirilovsky, CNRS research director.
He then joined the laboratory of Fabian Erdel, CNRS Research Director at theMolecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology Unit (MCD)to study the organization of heterochromatin in mammals as a postdoctoral researcher, where he obtained a CNRS research fellowship.
His research project aims to use multidisciplinary approaches to understand how the molecular interaction between proteins can lead to the compartmentalization of the genome into active and inactive regions, and regulate the cell’s transcriptional program.
