To pay tribute to Georges Brahms (1919-2019), former CNRS research director and patron of the arts, the CNRS Foundation has established, since 2022, an annual scientific prize in connection with his seminal work on genetics, and DNA in particular. The prize, worth €10,000, is intended to support the installation of the winner.
After examination of the applications by a jury convened by the CNRS Foundation in conjunction with the CNRS Institute of Biological Sciences, the prize is awarded to a CNRS research fellow recruited during the year in the field of DNA biology.
Denis Guthleben, Deputy Director of the CNRS History Committee and Editor-in-Chief of Histoire de la Recherche Contemporaine, presented a biography of Georges Brahms at the Georges Brahms 2023 award ceremony at CNRS headquarters on November 8, 2023.
